End of the Year Bombshell (The Ephrom Josine Show Ep. 149)

2018 Roundup

Well, 2018 has come to an end. And with the government shutdown, Democrats taking the House, and much more, I say this year has been . . . something.

The government shutdown has been going on for 10 days. Luckily, Donald's government shutdown is so unpopular, he has to blame everyone but himself. A recent poll found that only half of all Americans surveyed blamed the man who was given a spending bill that could have stopped the shutdown and didn't sign it. Or, only half of all Americans blamed the person who caused the shutdown.

Of course, the shutdown was over Donald Trump wanting taxpayers to fund his wall. I would give Trump credit for following through on his campaign promises if he didn't also promise us that Mexico would pay for the wall. What happened to that? Oh, and if the promise wasn't really stupid.

Going into 2020, things are only getting worse for Democrats. Elizebeth Warren announced her run unofficially today. I think she would be a positive influence on the race, even if she's only one-half correct that's still better than who else I'm seeing.

CNN did a segment today on how Bernie can't win because he's an old white man. Despite the fact that our current president is an old white man (the spray tan makes it hard to tell, I know). They also tried to call him a pervert, although when he's running against the grouper in chief, I don't really think that matters all that much.

Seriously though, let's just all take a minute and be happy Beto O'Rourke won't be president. All the polls seem to say it will either be Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders. I like Biden, I think he was a very good Vice President under Obama and a pretty decent Senator, even if he came in just at the time when Democrats couldn't figure out how they should feel about race. Rather either of them will run is still up in the air, but important news is where the polls line up.

Of course, CNN is trying to make Kamla Harris 2020 a thing. It's not going to be a thing, but CNN really doesn't seem to care. They've put her as there most likely to be the nomination for two months in a row, despite no poll done by anyone that isn't CNN saying this.

Of course, the only candidate who has has a snowball's chance in hell is Richard Ojeda. He's a good center-left candidate, but he's not bad. He believes in healthcare for all, universal education, and increased taxes on the rich.

So what will happen in 2019? Let's find out together.

Making The Economic Case For Mass Migration That Tucker Carlson Thinks Can't Be Made

"Good Evening and welcome to Tucker Carlson Tonight," said Tucker Carlson, host of Tucker Carlson Tonight. Sorry, I just found that funny.

Last week, Tucker Carlson made the point that no one ever makes an economic case for mass migration because one simply can't be made. Of course, this is wrong. How do I know this is wrong? Because it's actually a very easy case to make.

Most of the "economic" arguments against immigrants always come down to the zero-sum fallacy.

"They take our jobs," they say while saying "they don't work and drain off our welfare," somehow. These people really don't make much sense.

Here's the objective fact: Even an unskilled immigrant creates 1.2 jobs for the average native worker. This causes a larger economy meaning more immigrants can come in with more jobs for native workers following.

So yes, Tucker. An economic case can be made in simply one paragraph. Congrats.

French Protesters, Nationalism, and People Being Wrong

Over the past week or so, France has been experiencing many protests. Many of them resulting from Macron's new carbon tax, a plan so simple that it's honestly surprising this is what caused people to take notice.

First off, the people of France protest all the time. That's actually one very cool thing about France, they engage in protests basically anytime a new policy they disagree with is proposed. An entire section of the movie Sicko is about just how common French protests are. So why is the media, specifically the right-wing media, only talking about this one? Because this is the only one of those protests they can use to make it look like the normally left-wing French are now supporters of Donnie.

Donald only has an approval rating of 10% in France. Meanwhile, French president Macron has the still awful, but better than Trump's, rating of 26%. That's also ignoring that the people of France were already given the choice of a Donald like candidate with Marie Le Pen last year, and she lost! Macron is done, just like he was during the campaign.

Look, I hate Emmanuel Macron, a lot. I hate that fact that he's a former Rothschild banker, a neoliberal, very awkward with his ideology, and named his party after his own initials. Who does that?

However, it is also impossible to deny that these French protesters are also not the brightest people. For instance, their demands include tax cuts, France defaulting on its debt, and more public services. Ideas that so obviously contradict each other that I don't even feel I need to explain the problem.

Other proposals include the withdrawal from the UN and a decrease in immigration. Meaning this movement could also be called isolationist pretty easily, while the world is becoming increasingly global. Never before have I seen people actually ask to be left behind.

If this is the future of Europe, we better all start praying.
